OPEN TOURNAMENTS MEN
RULES IN BRIEF

(Please ensure all players are aware of the following rules)

FIVE A SIDE FOOTBALL
  • This will be a five a side event. All games played on grass pitches
  • A minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 5 players on the field at any one time.
  • Maximum number of players in a team – Seven.
  • Each game will be played for 15 minutes.
  • The tournament will be played on a league cum knock out basis.
  • The offside rule will not be applicable.
  • Referees decision will be final in all games.
  • In the event of a walk over team will be awarded three points and two goals.
  • During Tie breaker the goalkeeper may be any player from the 5 players on the field. No change in goalkeeper will be permitted after the first penalty kick.
  • Players are only permitted to play for one team.
  • In case of a draw in the knock out stages, five minutes extra time will be played. In case the game is still a draw, each team will take 3 penalties. If this still fails to separate the two teams, a sudden death will apply.
  • During the league phase the winning team gets three points. In case of a draw each team will get 1 point.
  • All throw-ins must be underarm. NO SLIDING TACKLES WILL BE PERMITTED.
  • Any player who receives a red card will be automatically suspended from his teams next game.
  • If, at the end of the League Round, there are TWO teams with the same number of accumulated points, the result between the two concerned teams during the league round will determine their positions in the final table. e.g. if, after the league round, Team A and B have 22 points each and team B defeated Team A during the league round, then Team B will be classified higher than Team A in the final standings table.
  • In the event there are three or more teams with the same number of accumulated points, at the end of the league stage team standings will be sorted in the following order:
  • Goal difference
  • Goals For
  • Goals Against
  • The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules if and when they deem it necessary.
VOLLEYBALL

All games played on grass pitches

  • All teams to have a minimum of 6 players on the field from a total of 9.
  • All standard volleyball rules will apply.
  • All matches will be played as best of 3 sets. Finals will be best of 5 sets.
  • The referees decision will be final in all the games.
  • The scoring for all matches will be on a 25-point rally basis.
  • If, at the end of the League Round, there are TWO teams with the same number of accumulated points, the result between the two concerned teams during the league round will determine their positions in the final table. E.g. if, after the league round, Team A and B have 22 points each and team B defeated Team A during the league round, then Team B will be classified higher than Team A in the Final Standings Table.
  • In the event there are three or more teams with the same number of accumulated points, team standings will be sorted in the following order:
  • Sets difference (Sets For less Sets Against)
  • Sets For
  • Sets Against
  • The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules if and when they deem it necessary
 
BASKETBALL
  • Only 10 players are allowed to play in each team
  • Five (5) team fouls will result in penalty situations
  • Five (5) personal fouls for a player will result in disqualification
  • One (1) Time out permitted for the first half and Two (2) Time outs permitted for the second half. One (1) Time out permitted during overtime period
  • Each game will be played 10 minutes (Running Time) during First half and 10 minutes during Second half (Last 5 minutes of second half the clock will be stopped every time there is a violation. 24 seconds Shot clock also applies)
  • Only Ten (10) players who are in the original line up are allowed to play from the start until the end of the tournament.
  • Teams may file a protest against other teams who use players that are not in the original line up.
  • All teams to have full uniform with numbers
  • Referees decision in all games will be final & binding. Protest if any should be lodged in writing immediately after the game.
  • The decision of the organizers will be final and binding
  • The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules if and when they deem it necessary.
 
UNDER ARM CRICKET
  • This will be a Six a side event.
  • Each match will consist of 5 overs. Each player to bowl one over (underarm) per game.
  • Maximum no. of players in a team should be seven (6 on field and 2 substitutes)
  • There will be no sixes awarded. Any batsman hitting a six will be declared ‘out'
  • No ‘twos' or ‘fours' will be awarded for balls crossing the line behind the wickets.
  • Clear markings on the ground will be shown to the captains before the game commences to indicate the boundaries for four runs to be awarded.
  • All bowling will be underarm. Any full toss ball rising above the knees of the batsman will be declared as ‘No ball'. 1 run will be awarded.
  • No ball, Wide ball, Lbws and leg byes will be taken into consideration.
  • Two runs will be awarded for a wide ball
  • Umpire's decision will be final in all games.
  • In the event teams are level on points after the league phase standing will be decided on Run Rate basis.
  • The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules if and when they deem it necessary.
 
GENERAL RULES TO ALL TEAMS
  • Teams have to report 30 minutes before the match time. Teams should report to the Control desk on arrival at the zone.
  • If any team does not report on time, the opposing team will be awarded a “Walkover”.
  • A grace time of 15 minutes will be given. This will be at the discretion of the organizers.
  • Players uniforms may carry Company / Sponsor logos.
  • Referees decision will be final in all games. Protests, if any, should be made within 12 hours of completion of the game together with a fee of DHS.200/- (refunded if protest upheld). The decision of the organizers will be final and binding in all cases
  • Ambulance will be on stand by in case of any emergency.
  • All teams must carry a First Aid Kit.
  • The organizers or any of its officials will not be held responsible for any injury, loss or death caused as a result of participating in the events at Sportzone .
